Development Bank of Nigeria Joins 140 Other Financial Institutions to Promote SME Finance

SME Finance Forum member Development Bank of Nigeria is working to aid in providing finance to MSMEs. Calling it a "nightmare," its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Tony Okpanachi, was appointed in 2017 with the mission to alleviate the financing constraints faced by MSMEs and small corporates in Nigeria. The Sun says his job remains to provide financing, partial credit guarantees and technical assistance to eligible financial intermediaries on a market-conforming and fully financially sustainable basis. 

Nigeria’s KiaKia using big data to offer SMEs access to loans

Nigerian startup KiaKia is helping to make direct and peer-to-peer consumer and SME loans accessible and obtainable for underbanked and unbanked Nigerians without credit histories through its online proprietary credit scoring and risk assessment algorithm.

Launched to the public in November of last year, KiaKia aggregates digital data and utilises machine learning, digital image forensics and psychometry to perform credit scoring and risk assessment services, to qualify and grant consumer and SME borrowers loans.

Member News: Development Bank of Nigeria Share Results of Commitment to MSMEs

Proshare shared results of the Development Bank of Nigeria, that hosted a year-to-date business presentation on its activities since inception. Those results include N31.364bn Spent in 2018 on MSMEs and 35,000 MSMEs End-Borrowers Benefitted in 2018, among other accomplishments.

Established in 2017 the Development Bank of Nigeria is regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission, and is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
